Larger Purpose:

This project helped prepare myself to become a better teacher. It also helped me improve my organization skills. I also feel that I can contribute to a team. 

Project Goal:

The main goal of this project was to complete 25 perfected lesson plans, gather some materials needed for the lessons, and sort everything into grade levels. This goal has changed a little bit. As stated above, I only have 24 lesson plans complete. I realized as I was writing my lesson plans, that the standards and activities were more important than having every detail perfected. As stated above, I decided not to collect materials.

I achieved this goal by starting with one grade level. I started with Kindergarten as my beginning level. I did Mathematics first, Language Arts, Social Studies, Fine Arts, Science, and P.E. For each lesson plan I pick a standard from UEN and I taught that standard. I then found an activity that went along with the standard. All of the supplies are listed in the lesson plans. At the beginning of my lessons I started with an activity, video, read aloud, etc. My main purpose for doing this was to involve them and pull them into this lesson and out of the previous one. After Kindergarten I started with First Grade, and so forth.

Outcomes:

By designing lesson plans from the state standards for every grade level, I have a greater understanding of the content that the state wants me to teach for each grade level. By compiling the lessons plans I have increased my organization skills. Also by writing these lesson plans, I have improved my vocabulary and my writing. As stated above, I am not gathering materials.

 

As I was writing my lesson plans I found that my understanding of the content became more apparent. If you were to approach me and ask me what lesson went in what grade level, I could tell you the grade level. For example, if you asked me where simplifying fractions belongs, I could tell you that it begins in second grade, but it is mostly in third. I can prove that I have increased my organizational skills through the website, where I have everything organized by grade level.
